Story from Kalmana AFSA, Bauchi
Over 10 people have lost their lives and thousands of hectares of farmlands were destroyed by floods in Jamaare, Giade, Misau Dambam, Zaki, Darazo, Kirfi, Itas-Gadau, Shira Gamawa, and Toro Local Governments Areas (LGA) of Bauchi State.
According to the Director of Planning Research and Statistics, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Adamu Nayola, the 12 local governments are the worst hit out of the 19 affected areas.
He said the Agency is inspecting the level of damage in some villages of Jamaare local government and confirmed that some of the villages have been cut off from other local governments in the state.
Nayola revealed that when the rainy season started, almost all the local governments in Bauchi have been affected by heavy downpours with deaths being recorded in different locations.
He lamented that the recent disaster is massive because the flood has washed away so many farmlands and rendered villagers homeless.
