Coming on the heels of Yobe State Government’s efforts to revitalise education in the state, the representatives of the alumni of Fika Government Secondary School (GSS), Potiskum, on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit on the state governor, His Excellency, Honourable Mai Mala Buni, to mark 50 years since the founding of the school in 1972.

Led by Malam Sule Dauda, a seasoned education administrator and board member of the state education trust fund, YETFund, the alumni informed the governor that as part of its programme members are to go round schools in the state to see where they can contribute in complementing the lofty goals of the governor.

The governor thanked them for the visit and their contributions in the educational development of the state, assuring them that his government has put in place measures that will soon begin to yield the necessary fruits that would usher the state into the league of most educated states in the country.

Fika GSS was founded in 1972 as a community secondary school before the government took over its running in 1976.

Other members of the team included Justice Ibrahim Jauro, Alhaji Dauda Yahaya and Alhaji Umaru Nafisa, among others.
