Gov. Buni commissions N2.43 billion Gashua ultra modern market

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has commissioned Gashua ultra modern market as part of the state government’s commitment to boost commerce and the economic growth of the community.
Gashua modern market is one of the four modern markets the present administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni constructed with others in Nguru, Damaturu and Potiskum.

Governor Buni said the state government had also awarded the construction of another modern market in the Geidam local government area.
He revealed that Gashua ultra-modern market has 555 shops of different sizes, administrative blocks, a mosque, a good road network, water facilities, parking lots, drainages and provision for banks, fire stations and police outposts.
The Governor noted that the Gashua market is expected to stimulate an increase in economic activities that would enhance job opportunities and income generation for the people and promote internal generating revenue in the state.
“This market is already registered as a limited liability company with their fully-fledged board of directors.
“I would like to therefore enjoy the board and management of the market to handle and ensure good utilisation of all the facilities towards the realisation of our collective goals the purpose of providing the project,” said the governor.
Buni named the Gashua modern market after distinguished Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan for his recognition and valuable contributions to the state as well as the exemplary harmonious working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government for a developmental democracy under his leadership.
In his remarks after commissioning the market, the Senate President, Senator Lawan said Yobe state has put on a sustainable development path.
Lawan who commended Governor Buni for the foresight that made him did what he’s been able to do in developing the state, assured the governor that representatives from the National Assembly representing the state would continue to give their maximum support to the present administration in the state.
