NEDC trains 150 North-East mechanics on digital vehicular diagnostics, maintenance

The North-East Development Commission (NEDC) has trained 150 North-East automobile technicians on digital vehicular diagnostics and maintenance.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony in Yola, Mohammed Goni, the Managing Director of NEDC, said the training is part of the commission’s mandate to train and empower people in the zone.
He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the knowledge acquired, the starter packs given to them and to train other people under them.
Goni appealed to the beneficiaries to not sale out the kits given to them so as not to regret in the future.
He said as part of the commission’s effort to impact positively on people, they decided to establish Information Communication and Technology (ICT) centres in each of the senatorial district in the North-East so that more youths can be trained.
He said government alone can not employ everybody, hence the need for people to acquire relevant skills and help themselves, family and their communities as well as to be employers of labor.
Professor Mohammed Ajiya, Managing Director (MD) Digital Bridge Institute, explained that the beneficiaries undergone three weeks training and exposure on how to provide effective service in their profession.
He added that they have been trained on how to relate with their customers and people working under them as well as entrepreneur skills.
Ajiya urged the beneficiaries to apply the knowledge acquired and make good impacts on their businesses.
In his remarks, Malam Bashir Ahmad, Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Adamawa, appreciated the NEDC for engaging youths from the state and the North-East into the programme.
Ahmad, who was represented by the Commissioner Ministry of Entrepreneurship Development, Mr James Iliya, said the training would impact positively on the beneficiaries and the society at large.
According to him, the state government are also complementing the effects of NEDC in such regards by reopening 10 skills acquisition centres in the state.
He added that 1,000 youths have also been trained on ICT and will soon be presented with starter packs to be able to compete with others in the country.
A beneficiary, Hussaini Musa, appreciated the initiative of the NEDC for the training which has impacted relevant knowledge in them and said through the training they have learned how to use scanners to scan vehicles and come up with possible solutions.
He pledged to make judicious use of the knowledge and starter packs given by the commission.
Musa said he would soon step down the knowledge acquired for more people to benefit on how to address the problems relating to modern vehicles.
