Yobe govt commissions 133 rural electrification projects

The Yobe State Government under its Rural Electrification Board (REB) has announced the completion of about 133 projects out of 160 electrification projects undertaken by the state.

General Manager, Yobe state REB Engineer Umara Mustapha, made this known Saturday while briefing journalist at the Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ) Press centre, Damaturu, the state capital.

Engineer Mustapha explained that, the state government under rehabilitated and strengthened a 33KV line from Damaturu, Babbangida, Bayamari, Gaidam, Dapchi and Yunusari, the construction of alternative 33KV feeder line supplying in Buni Yadi as well as the procurement of two (2) 250 KVA generators to Yobe state University Teaching Hospital Radiology Unit in Damaturu and provision of 100 KVA generator to the state ICT and data centre at the governor’s office.

He added that other projects in the state include the provision of two (2) 500 KVA transformers sub- Station, extension of TDN and construction of 33KV transmission line at Yotcho in Potiskum Local Government Area (LGA).

“Others are Electrification of Arfani town in jakusko, Aji Dawari town in Bursari and electrification Wachakal, Shekau, Dumsa, Makera, Dumuwal, Kasaisa, Garin Mallam Adamu and Connected to National Grid,” he said.

He further said that the state also provided electricity infrastructures across the 26 project locations in 17 LGAs under the mass housing scheme (Family Home) ongoing in the state.

He thanked the state government for the support given to him to carryout all the projects.

He assures of extending power supply to all nooks and crannies of the state and that his team would continue to perform this important task as directed by the state Governor, Mai Mala Buni.
