Gov. Buni, Emir of Fika, TMT, Abdu Bulama, Ahmad Lawan to receive national honours

The Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni; Emir of Fika, Alhaji Muhammadu Abali Ibn Muhammadu Idrissa; Chairman of Neptune Prime Board, Alhaji Tijjani Tumsah; Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, Dr Abdu Bulama, a former minister of science and technology and many distinguished personalities are among those nominated to receive the national honours award.

The investiture is scheduled to hold on 11 October at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Abuja.

According to a statement by Yusuf Ali, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Buni on Digital Strategic Communications, President Buhari would bestow the award on Governor Buni and others for having distinguished themselves in various areas of human endeavours.

The statement reads: “This is an honour well deserved because Governor Mai Mala Buni has distinguished himself in the transformation drive, based on the mantra of continuity, consolidation and innovation moving Yobe State forward.

“We are very grateful to Mr President for this honour done to our indefatigable Governor Mai Mala Buni. It shows that the giant strides recorded by the Buni administration in infrastructural and human capital development are being recognised and appreciated by Nigerians.

“The Nigerian National Honours Award are the highest honours the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria confers on citizens who make exceptional contributions in service to their country.

“The National Honours for Governor Mai Mala Buni is coming after several awards by professional bodies, the academia, youth, women groups and corporate organizations conferred on him in recognition of the good work he has been doing in Yobe State.

“We congratulate His Excellency, Honorable Mai Mala Buni for this national honours and we have no doubt in our mind that this award from the President will encourage him to do more for the good people of Yobe state in particular and Nigerians in general,” Ali stated.

About 437 people have been nominated for the 2022 National Honours Award.

Five persons will receive the medal of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), 54 for Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) and 67 for the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON). 64 for Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR), 101 for Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), 75 for Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR), 56 for Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) and eight for Federal Republic Medal (FRM).

Many prominent personalities in the private and public sectors, academia, entertainment and deceased individuals have been listed to be honoured.
