10 years after, FGN approves N27 billion for Kishi-Kaima Road construction
Story from Abah ADAH, Abuja
The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) has approved N27 billion for the construction of the Kishi-Kiama Highway in Kwara State.
The Kwara State Government disclosed this Monday in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, according to reports.
The statement said the financial approval was why the state government stopped work on the road.
“The Federal Ministry of Works has informed us that we should stop work on that road because they have got new approval from the federal government and the contract for the road has been reissued at N27 billion.
“The Kishi-Kaiama road is very important to the whole of the country because of the volume of trade in farm produce,” he said.
As a federal road, the Nigerian government first awarded the contract over 10 years ago, however, nothing was happening.
