Body of OSGoF’s Asst. Chief Surveyor kidnapped, killed yet unfound

The body of one Alamu Samsiden Abayomi, an assistant chief surveyor with the Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation (OSGoF) who was allegedly slain by some armed criminals in Abuja recently, is yet to be found, as at press time.
A statement made available to Neptune Prime by the head of Media and Public Relations, OSGoF, Abu Michael to pressmen in Abuja confirmed that efforts were on to find the body.
Abayomi was abducted on Monday (3rd October 2022) evening in Abaji on his way to Abuja alongside his mother and his seven-year-old son (Abdulhaq Alamu), according to Abu Michael.
The trio were in a Toyota Corolla with registration number RSH 661NY when the assailants emerged from the bush and shot at them.
Michael confirmed that Abayomi was murdered on October 6 while his mother and son regained freedom the next day.
“On receiving the news of his abduction, the Surveyor General of the Federation, Abudulganiyu Adebomehin, and his management team swooped into action.
“The Office reliably gathered that he was killed on Thursday before the release of his mother and son on Friday through the intervention of family members, friends and other relatives,” the statement said.
Michael added that security agencies were working towards recovering Abayomi’s remains and urged citizens to provide useful information to the police.
“OSGoF regrets the loss of the 2021 Head of Civil Service Award Winner and a mapping maestro of its Photogrammetry and Remote-Sensing Department,” the statement added.
After her release, the mother, Alhaja Afusat Alamu revealed that the gunmen demanded N50 million but only N2.35 million was raised which the captors collected.
Abayomi who was recruited into the Federal Civil Service in OSGoF on 9th December 2013 had Masters Degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Postgraduate Diploma in Surveying and Geoinformatics from the University of Lagos, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from the University of Ilorin.
He hailed from Iwo in Osun State and was born on 3rd April 1975; he was married with two daughters and a son.
