Lecturer, his 3 children arraigned in Nasarawa for stripping, assaulting lady

The Nasarawa State Police Command has charged to court an associate professor together with his 3 children for assaulting a woman in the state.

The suspects are Dr Fred Ekpa Ayokhai, 53, Emmanuela Ayokhai, 18, Bob Praise Ayokhai, 23, and Saint-Dan Ayokhai, 21.

They were charged on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, and were arraigned at High Court 1, Nasarawa State before Justice Aisha Bashir-Aliyu, the Chief Judge of Nasarawa State on a six-count-charge of criminal conspiracy, housebreaking and criminal force, assault to a woman, kidnapping and inflicting physical injury on another.

Justice Aisha said the offences listed were punishable under Section 97 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria, Section 3 (1) & 4 of the Nasarawa State Kidnapping (Prohibition) Law, 2019, Section 268 (2) & 354 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria and Section 3 (1) of the Nasarawa State Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law, 2019.

The case has been assigned to the High Court 1 for trial and the suspects remanded in a correctional facility pending further hearing.

Neptune Prime recalls that Dr Fred Ekpa Ayokhai, a lecturer and an associate professor with the Department of History and International Studies, Federal University of Lafia, together with his children, got arrested after they stripped a teenager for snatching his daughter’s boyfriend.
