Gov. Buni, the uncommon administrator, recipient of national merit award, by Abubakar Kareto

Governor Mai Mala Buni has demonstrated enormous skill in steering the affairs of Yobe State during the last nearly four years as governor. You have justified the mandate conferred on you by the Yobe people to lead the state to new heights.

Despite the massive destruction of public facilities such as schools, markets, places of worship, hospitals, businesses, and other public and private infrastructure in Yobe, it is clear that your leadership and unwavering determination to make progress in the face of adversity have restored public hope in the state.

Buni arrived with the gale of inflation and the turbulence of recession caused by the reduction in the price of oil, which is the only product that powers our economy. The Covid-19 pandemic, which shut down the world and prevented important economic activity for more than a year, was included in this list of obstacles.

Despite this, you’ve taken the state on the golden wings of progress. The fundamentals are robust; they are rock-solid and sturdy, and you have continued to tread carefully on the brink of economic prosperity.

You’ve transformed Yobe from a state where modern markets were non-existent, with the exception of a few facilities intended for provincial needs, to one where every federal constituency boasts of a fully functional modern market equipped with the most modern amenities comparable to similar facilities anywhere in the world.

From a state where the people had to travel long distances either to Maiduguri, Jigawa, or Kano to board flights with the hopes of flying from Damaturu, the state capital.

You’ve always believed that civilizations are not formed and improved by repeating the same actions and expecting different results and lasting value. Society is constructed and enhanced by doing things that work and have the greatest impact on people’s overall development (both short and long-term), resulting in sustainable progress.

Your dedication and devotion to the development of Yobe State have demonstrated that you are a man on a mission to leave your footprint on the sands of time, and our people fully support you.

Congratulations once again!
