Police apprehend terrorist, 2 suppliers of PMS to bandits’ camps in Zamfara

Police officers in Zamfara State have apprehended a terrorist and two suppliers of petrol to bandits operating in Dankurmi forest in the State.

It was gathered that the officers were in a patrol which led to the arrest of the bandits and the recovery of a Golf vehicle with registration number Lagos EJ 556 LSD, including 47 empty jerry cans of 25 litres and N9,000 cash.

A statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent (SP) Mohammed Shehu identified the terrorist and their collaborators as Juli Musa, male, 54, and Surajo Yahaya male, 35, and Bello Abubakar, male, 70 years old.

According to the statement, on September 25 at about 04:00am, Police Tactical Operatives while on midnight patrol within Gusau metropolis, acted on intelligence and trailed the said vehicle to arrest the driver one Surajo Yahaya inside a filling station located along Garejin Mailena-Wanke Road.

SP Shehu added that intelligence report revealed that the said vehicle was loaded with empty jerry cans and were received by the security guard of the filling station named Bello Abubakar which were meant for taking fuel and conveying same to terrorists at Dankurmi forest for their deadly operations in the North-Western part of the country.

He further stated that a search was conducted in the filling station which led to the recovering of 47 empty jerry cans of 25 litres.

Recall that the Zamfara State Government in its recent security measures to curb banditry and other heinous crimes, banned the sale of petrol in jerry cans and in large quantity in the state.

Similarly, the police tactical operatives had earlier on September 24, acted on intelligence that led to the arrest of a notorious bandit who has been terrorising innocent members of the public in Zurmi, Birnin Magaji and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas.

The statement disclosed that, intelligence further revealed that the suspect has been engaged in cattle rustling, receiving and selling of rustled animals in different parts of the State.

The Commissioner of Police, (CP) Kolo Yusuf while reassuring the public of the Command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property, appealed for continuous collaboration with the police and other security agencies in an effort to rid the state of criminal activities.
