Real Madrid beat rival, Barcelona in Sunday’s El-Clasico

Real Madrid claimed first El-Clasico victory on Sunday after beating rival, Football Club of Barcelona 3-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Karim Benzema opened the score line for Madrid 12 minutes after kick off to make it 1-0.

The home team doubled the lead courtesy Federico Valverde in the 35th minute as Barça were visibly demoralised.

A disappointing outing for Xavi and his boys who had hope to level the game after Feran Torres flip to reduce the tally to 2-1.

The highly tensed game saw Madrid having more dominance as they took advantage of the set piece which gave them a penalty in the 91st minute where Rodrygo sealed the victory for the Blancos to make it 3-1.

Madrid are currently top of the La Liga table with 25 points while Barcelona are second with 22.

Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad share 19 points in third and fourth place respectively.
