Suspected ESN gunmen set police station ablaze, kill 2 in Enugu
Gunmen suspected to be from the Eastern Security Network/Indigenous People of Biafra (ESN/IPOB) numbering about six on Sunday set a police station ablaze at Inyi, Oji River local government area of Enugu state.
Sources said the gunmen, who were riding on two vehicles, invaded the station in the early hours of the morning, according to reports.
The source said: “The gunmen numbering about six stormed the station and opened fire. The incident caused a serious pandemonium but they were telling the passers-by not to worry that they didn’t come for them.
“After several minutes of heavy shooting, they set the one-storey building ablaze. As I’m taking to you now, the station is on fire.
“When they left the scene, we counted two bodies on the floor, they must have been hit by bullet because we know one of them and he’s not a police officer.
“They came with two vehicles, silver and black coloured,” the source narrated.”
Reports has it that the two victims were a police officer and a civilian who came to lodge a complaint in the station.
However, the police spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, could not be reached at the time of filing this report.
