We’ve no police station in Nigeria – China

The Chinese Government has dismissed reports that it has opened police stations in Nigeria and in over 20 countries in Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa as false.

A report by human rights watchdog, Safeguard Defenders, titled ‘110 Overseas Chinese Transnational Policing Gone Wild’, alleged that the Chinese Government set up “overseas police stations” across Africa, Europe and America, to “crackdown on all kinds of illegal and criminal activities involving overseas Chinese.”

The report claimed that the move by the Chinese government was aimed at tackling the increasing criminal activities of its citizens abroad.

Refuting the report, an official of the Chinese Embassy in Abuja, said it was a fake report made by an anti-China human rights NGO in Europe.

The official said: “There is no Chinese police station in Nigeria or others.

“What is there is only a category of outreach service to Chinese communities.

“China doesn’t have any intention or spare energy to run police station outside”, the official added.
