2023: Gov. Buni presents N163 billion budget to state assembly

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni on Thursday presented a budget of N163,155,399,000 to the State House of Assembly for the 2023 fiscal year.
In the 2023 budget which is 0.49 percent lower than that of the 2022 budget, recurrent expenditure is to gulp eighty-seven billion, eight hundred million, seven hundred and seventy thousand naira (N87,800,717,000), representing 57%.
Governor Buni said the sum of seventy-five billion, three hundred and forty million, six hundred and forty-four million, six hundred and forty-nine thousand naira (75,354,649,00), representing 43%, was earmarked for capital expenditure.
He explained that the budget will dwell on the completion of ongoing projects in pursuance of the government’s post-insurgency recovery and speed socio-economic development programme.
He revealed that the 2023 budget being the last in the first tenure of his administration provides the government the opportunity to express appreciation to the legislative arm of government for its understanding and cooperation with the executive on all matters of public interest.
Buni said the support received from the State House of Assembly had made the work of the executive easier, adding that it was against that background that the government resolved to tag the 2023 budget “The Budget of Continuity, Consolidation and Economic Transformation.
