ABU VC appoints new law faculty dean, deputy

The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Kabiru Bala, has approved the appointment of Dr Salim B. Magashi as the Dean, Faculty of Law.

Until this appointment, Magashi was the Head of the Department (HOD) of Public Law and Deputy Director in charge of Administration, ABU Distance Learning Centre.

Similarly, the VC approved the appointment of Dr Farida A. Kera as Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law. He also approved another appointment for her as Head of the Department of Private Law.

Both appointments (Dean and Deputy
Dean) took effect on 15th November 2022, and each of the appointees will serve for two years.

Magashj, whose appointment is in recognition of his administrative and academic leadership qualities will be responsible to the VC for the day-to-day operations of the Faculty.

The VC urged the new Dean to continue to render his contributions for the upliftment of the Faculty and the University at large, in addition to advising him to always be honest and fair in all his official dealings.

According to her letter of appointment as Deputy Dean, Farida would be responsible to the Dean for the day-to-day operations of the Faculty, besides bringing her worthy experience to bear in the service of the University.

Farida’s appointment as Head of Department of Private Law is for two years and she will be responsible to the VC for the day-to-day activities of the Department.

Meanwhile, the VC has equally approved the reappointment of Prof. Balarabe Abdullahi as Director, School of Basic and Remedial Studies (SBRS), Funtua, for another two years.

His reappointment, according to the VC, was in recognition of his administrative and academic leadership qualities.
