The members and supporters were said to have gathered in Ihima town, Okene, Okehi Local Government (LGA), to sensitize the public and show to opposition parties how large their membership base was in the state and were about leaving the campaign venue when the bees attacked some of them.

It was learnt that APC chose Ihima, the hometown PDP candidate for Kogi Central senatorial district, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, to change the narrative of their visitors that the opposition parties have any stronghold in the state.  According to livetimesng, the incident occurred after they had completed their assignment for the day.

The member, Abdulhamid Aminu, said: “Yes, the Bees incident was true but it happened after the entire program, particularly while party faithfuls were on their way home”.

Before the bees attacked, the walk had commenced at about 10 am on Saturday from Obangede junction in Oboroke and terminated at Ikuehi in Ihima where the leaders mounted the podium set close to a pole that had a bee nest and address the participants on importance of the exercise tagged Ihima Solidarity Walk.

It was gathered that after the party leaders had completed their address, four birds flew and perch and disrupted the bees activities which led to the insects attacking some members leaving the venue.

Meanmwhile, the APC members have alleged that the bees were sent after them by the opposition members that were not happy that the ruling party could pull crowd from the state.

A member of the party, who identified himself as Shadrach, described the attack as one that was embarked upon by the opposition that felt intimidated by the move.

“Now, I have regrettably come to the conclusion that the opposition don’t know how to be an opposition because they are filled with hatred that have upset their balance. We sympathize with them”, he added.
