EFCC declares APC Senatorial Candidate for Kano Central, AA Zaura, wanted for duping Arab businessman

Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Kano politician and APC Kano Central Senatorial candidate, AA Zaura, wanted for duping a Kuwait businessman of the sum of 1.3 million dollars.

On October 14th, the Kano State High Court directed that AA Zaura should appear yesterday, Monday, before Justice Muhammed Nasiru Yunusa to continue defending himself over the allegation he is being charged by the EFCC.

The case was earlier dismissed by the Kano High Court which asked the accused to continue with his lawful business as the case against him has no substance. But EFCC appealed the judgement of the Kano High Court on the ground that the case was not properly handled as such it wants the court to continue with the case for a favourable judgement, but since then the accused was not seen, he also stopped coming to court without a valid reason.

The council to the accused, Barrister Ibrahim Waru, has argued that his client is not well and as such he is free to be represented by his team of lawyers, who have never stopped coming to court since their case which was declared null and void by Justice Lewis Allagoa before EFCC insisted to re-visit the case.

Justice Mohammed Nasiru Yunusa has ruled that the case has been adjourned to 10th November 2022 and urged the defense lawyers to ensure that their client appears on the appointed date, or else the court may decide otherwise.
