FIFA World Cup: Brazil qualifies for knockout stage after Casemiro’s late winner

Brazil’s quest to qualify for the knockout stage at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar was done and dusted on Monday evening after Manchester United’s defensive midfielder, Carlos Henrique Casimiro smashed a half-volley from Vinicius Junior’s flicker that sends the ball spiralling into the far corner of the Swiss in the 83rd minute to make it 1-0.

The game which ended 0-0 before the break despite fireworks from both side picked up when Vinicius received a pass from Casemiro and slotted the ball beyond Sommer and into the bottom corner, the goal was initially given before the referee signalled offside in the 66th minute.

Both teams did put up a great show but in the end Brazil had the day.

The Swiss on the other hand will do all the they can to get a victory as they face Serbia who drew 3-3 with Cameroon.
