Gunmen abduct vice principal, exams officer from school in Abuja

Gunmen in their numbers on Tuesday reportedly attacked Government Secondary School (GSS), Yebu, Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja and abducted both the vice principal and the exams officer.

The incident which took place at about midnight, according to a resident, Ishaya Barnabas, the gunmen came in large numbers shooting sporadically at the school’s staff quarters.

Residents said the intensity of the attack was such that officers and men of the nearby police station could not engage the gunmen in a gun battle because of their inferior weapons.

Barnabas who spoke with Daily Trust said,
“Yebu community was terrified last night as a result of the gunshots to the extent that police officers at the police station could not engage them because of their superior firepower.”

The Kwaita branch Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Comrade Abubakar Sheriya, confirmed the abductions, according to the medium.

The same school was also invaded in 2021 with two of its staff equally abducted.
