Lafia Emirate strips son of late Emir of Ubangari title

Story from Ibraheem Hamza MUHAMMAD, Lafia

The Lafia Emirate Council in Nasarawa State has stripped Alhaji Musa Isa Mustapha Agwai, of the late Emir Mustapha Agwai, from the traditional title of Ubangarin Lafia.

A statement by Emirate Council Secretary, Rayanu Isa, said the Emirate during its meeting on 19th November 2022 approved the immediate removal of Isa Mustapha Agwai as the Ubangarin Lafia.

Until his sack, Agwai was the third in command in the hierarchy of the traditional title in the Emirate.

The statement didn’t explain the reason for the sack but multiple palace sources who spoke on condition of anonymity said relieving Musa Isa Mustapha Agwai from his position of Ubangari could not be unconnected with alleged insubordination to the Emirate.

It added that the former Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Usman Isa Baba, had been appointed as the new Ubangarin Lafia.

The new Ubangarin Lafia before his elevation was the traditional title holder of Dangaladiman Lafia.
