The Oyo State Government has urged residents in the state to embrace the habit of waste sorting and recycling.
This was made known in a press statement made available to Neptune Prime Tuesday by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon. Wasiu Olatubosun.
Speaking through its waste management consultant, Mottainai Recycling Ltd., on Monday, the state government said this is part of efforts to reduce pressure on landfills in the state.

Mr Adey Adewuyi, the MD, Mottainai Recycling Ltd, who made the call in Ibadan, enjoined residents to join hands with the Oyo State Government, as it tackles the menace of waste management.
Adewuyi reiterated his firm’s total commitment to the furtherance of the executive governor’s order on zero tolerance for reckless waste disposal.
“Mottainai is paving the way for a cleaner and healthier Oyo State; we are totally committed to environmental sustainability”, he said.
He also urged the federal and state governments to support recycling companies with innovative technology to combat waste that causes flooding and other environmental challenges to the environment.
Adey Adewuyi, who observed that the amount of waste in the country was astonishingly increasing, noted that all hands must be on deck to save lives, against the threat of air and water pollution due to human activities.
