Terrorists demand N30m ransom for release of 21 boys, girls abducted from farm in Katsina

The sum of N30 million is needed as ransom for the release of 21 boys and girls who were abducted by terrorists while working on a farm in Faskari Local Government Area, Katsina State, according to AIT quoting a source.

A spokesman of the Police, Superintendent Gambo Isah, who confirmed the abduction, said the number of girls abducted were more than the boys.

The terrorists stormed the farmland where the children were working, shooting sporadically, before abducting them.

According to him, the incident occurred around the Mailafia Company, in Faskari Local Government Area.

The source also said that the terrorists have vowed to recruit them into their fold if ransom does not come quickly.

The Commissioner of Police, Idris Dabban, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, to mobilize the Divisional Police Officer and the Tactical Unit of the area, in collaboration with the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, to intensify efforts for rescue.

The kidnapped children have reached out to the state government to their rescue.
