Yobe budget commissioner dissects 2023 budget

The Yobe State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mohammed Garba Gagiyo, on Thursday, explained the proposed 2023 budget shortly after it was presented to the State House of Assembly by Governor Mai Mala Buni.
Mohammed Gagiyo said out of the N87,800,717,000 which is 53.8 per cent is earmarked for recurrent services, while N75,354,649,00 which is 46.2 per cent is for capital expenditure.
The Commissioner revealed that the revenue sources to finance the 2023 proposed budget is from a treasury opening balance of N8,500,000, 000, expected Internally Generated Revenue of N12,251,677,000 and Statutory Allocation of N38,555,341,000.
He noted that others are Share Vat, N25,793,593,000, other Federal Account allocation, N4,654,755,000 and Other Capital Receipt, N73,400,000,000 totalling N163,155,366,000.
According to the commissioner, in the proposed 2023 budget, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism get N4.460 billion, Work N8.944 billion, Basic education N4.997 and Agriculture N4.551 billion.
The Commissioner said others are the Rural Electrification Board, N3.5 billion, Ministry of Health N3.479 billion, Wealth Creation and Ministry of Employment Generation, N1.5 billion and Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, N950 million, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, N1.523 billion and Information Ministry N280 million.
Gagiyo who commended Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, for striving towards the development of the state despite all odds stressed that the successful implementation of the 2023 budget will take the state to the next level of development.
