Story from Sa’adatu MAINA, Damaturu.
Governor Mai Mala Buni has on Thursday flagged off the construction of 12.2bn Ngalda-Mutai Road project at Ngalda, Fika local government area of Yobe State.
Buni said on December 2020, he flagged off the construction of phase 1 of the Gujba/Ngalda Road covering Gujba-Mutai being executed through the Multi Sectoral Crises Recovery Projects (MCRP).
He noted that the flag off construction of the 54km Ngalda-Mutai Road Phase 2 of the project which covers Ngalda-Mutai will be executed by the North-East Development Commission (N.E.D.C).
However, the governor also noted that the construction of Ngalda -Mutai Road would obviously open up the rich agriculturally endowed communities and facilitate easy movement of people, goods and services to stimulate more agricultural, commercial and economic activities in the benefitting communities.
“This project is therefore a commendable drive by the North-East Development Commission which conforms to our development pursuit in the state.
“Such complementary interventions would certainly go a long way in impacting positively on the lives of our people,” Buni Said.
He appreciated other efforts of the North-East Development Commission for the construction of the 500 mass housing units across the state, the distribution of relief materials to victims of insurgency and disasters; training on smartphone repairs and computer graphics design and the distribution of starter packs and startup capital to over 330 youths among others.
Buni also Commended President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR for establishing the NEDC.
On his remarks, the Managing Director, North East Development Commission (NEDC), Mohammed Goni Alkali, said the project was intended to improve security, economic and social wellbeing of the people dwelling in the general area.
Alkali assured that the 54kms project will be executed within the contractual time frame agreed upon as scheduled.
