Gov. Buni to receive 2022 Housing Friendly Governor award Thursday
His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Governor Mai Mala Buni is set to grace the 2022 Africa Housing Award billed for Thursday, 15th December 2022 in Abuja alongside other eminent personalities billed for Thursday, 15th December 2022 at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja.
Governor Buni who will be receiving the award for Housing Friendly Governor of the Year at the auspicious occasion is said to have won it because of his remarkable contribution to housing development in Yobe State.
The Governor has been praised by the beneficiaries of his initiatives for constructing over 2,000 housing units across the state, being the single largest housing intervention in the history of the state for over 40 years now, and for announcing a subsidy of 50 per cent to all beneficiaries of the houses while presenting the 2023 budget to the state’s House of Assembly recently.

The Award is designed to celebrate excellence in Africa’s Housing and Construction industry recognizing those individuals and organizations who have been dedicated, hard-working, and contributing immensely to the innovation and development of the sector.
Speaking with journalists in his Abuja office recently, Africa’s Affordable Housing Advocate, Festus Adebayo who is also the promoter of the annual one of its kind Awards ceremony disclosed that the Chairman of this year’s event is Surveyor Suleiman Hassan Zarma, Former Minister of Environment with Arc. Mike Onolememen, CON, former Minister of Works as one of the Special Guest of Honour.
Leading the Yobe State high-level delegation to the Africa Housing Awards on Thursday is the Deputy Governor, Idi Barde Gubana. Others are the Speaker of the State’s House of Assembly, Hon. Commissioner, Yobe State Ministry of Housing, Permanent Secretary, Yobe State Ministry of Housing, MD, Yobe State Housing Corporation and DG, Press Bureau among others.
Among the top media houses covering the must-attend event are the Housing Development program, AiT, TVC, Arise News, News Agency of Nigeria, Guardian, Punch, DailyTrust, Tribune Newspapers and many more.
It is worth noting that the Africa Housing Awards seeks to demonstrate the importance of strategic collaboration that fosters innovations, promotes, and rewards initiatives that address a real need and provide affordable, disaster-resilient, inclusive, and sustainable housing in Africa.
