Portugal were already two goals up before half-time seeing Goncalo Ramos and Pepe finding the back of the net in the 17th and 33rd minutes respectively.

The lead continued after the break and Ramos scored his second goal of the match nine minutes later to make it 3-0.

Raphaël Guerreiro joined the list of goal scorers four minutes later after the third goal to make it fourth for Portugal.

The tally was however reduced to 4-1 by the Nigerian-born Swiss player Michael Akanji slotting the ball into the net from a corner.

Portugal’s fifth and sixth goals came 67th and 92nd minutes by Ramos and Raphael Leao respectively to put the country in a party mood for qualifying.

They meet Morocco on Saturday after the North African country stunned Spain 3-0 on penalties.
