Gov. Buni signs N163.5 billion 2023 finance, appropriation bill into law

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has signed the sum of N163 billion budget into law for the 2023 fiscal year.
The signing of the 2023 finance and appropriation bill took place at the WAWA hall, government house Damaturu.
Gov Mai Mala Buni said the 2023 budget which was tagged: “The Budget of Continuity, Consolidation and Economic Transformation” will focus on the completion of ongoing capital projects across the state.
Buni said the 2023 budget submitted to the state house of assembly has a total sum of ₦163,155,366,000.
The Governor revealed that in line with the oversight function, the state house of assembly made some adjustments thereby decreasing the total budget size to ₦163,005,366,000.
He further said the recurrent and capital expenditures for the 2023 fiscal year stood at N87.8.billion and N75.1 billion respectively.
Governor Buni noted that the prompt passage of the 2023 budget by the state assembly indicates the cordial working relationship between the two arms of government in the state.
“The state will complete all the ongoing projects such as Damaturu International Cargo airport, Modern Markets and Potiskum trailer park to boost the state internally generated revenue.
“The state government will also initiate new projects to create more job opportunities to promote self-reliance among youths.
“I wish to appeal to all public office holders, civil servants, and contractors to continue to uphold values of transparency, accountability, due process and financial discipline in the Implementation of the 2023 budget,” the governor said.
