Yobe partners Qatar Foundation to sponsor 61 orphans to university level

Yobe State Government has partnered Qatar Charity Foundation to sponsor over 61 vulnerable orphans from primary school to university level.

This was made known on Sunday during an inauguration of ATM cards given to the orphans who qualify as the beneficiaries of the scholarship given by Qatar Charity Foundation.

The event took place at the Wawa Hall of the government house Damaturu.

During the occasion, Governor Buni supported the orphans with N50,000 each and donated food and non food items.

Buni said he had earlier sat with Qatar Charity Foundation where they intensively discussed prospects for Yobe State being one of the state affected by insurgents.

“Qatar Foundation was created to assist the most vulnerable persons in the state, “Buni added.

In his remarks, the representative of Qatar charity foundation, Malam Shuaibu said Yobe is one of the state that will benefit much from Qatar foundation and would continue to assist the orphans.

Earlier in his remarks, the special adviser on religious affairs and Yobe State Qatar Charity Foundation Coordinator, Babagana Kyari, revealed that 61 orphans have already opened an account and each of them credited with 117,000 courtesy of the foundation.

He said apart from sponsoring orphans up to the university level, the a foundation constructed over 132 boreholes, 32 mosque across the 17 local government areas in the state.

Kyari commended the state government and the foundation for assisting vulnerables in the state.
