Suspected ESN/IPOB men kill female police sergeant in Imo

Gunmen suspected to be members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN)/Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have killed a female police sergeant identified as Chinyere Obilor serving in Imo State.

According to Politics Nigeria, the officer was killed on Wednesday when gunmen ambushed her and her colleagues at Ihitte junction on Owerri- Aba Road in Owerri.

The security agents were reportedly on duty when the assailants in a minibus, struck.

The criminals emerged from a nearby bush and opened fire on the police personnel, thereby, killing a civilian in the process.

The slain female officer was attached to the Highway Patrol team of the state police command.

According to a source, the killers abandoned the bus.

The source said: “The woman was dedicated to her duties. She was killed in a gun battle when criminals ambushed them at Ihitte junction on Owerri- Aba Road.

“She was from Mgbidi in Imo. A mother of four children who was very cheerful is gone. This is so painful.

“She was attached to the Highway Patrol Team Unit. The hoodlums abandoned their vehicle (Busimo) which they came in with. It has been recovered and brought to Owerri”.

All efforts to reach the Imo State Police Command spokesperson, Henry Okoye, for comments, proved abortive.
