Two brothers in police net for killing man who caught them stealing sesame seed
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested 25-year-old Babangida Adamu and his 22-year-old brother, Abubakar Adamu, for killing a man who caught them stealing sesame seed from his father’s farm.
Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent Ahmed Wakil, said the two brothers were arrested for criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide in Darazo Local Government Area of the state.
Wakil said the suspects confessed to killing the victim, Ibrahim Ahmadu, after he caught them red-handed stealing sesame seed from his father’s farm.
“We slit his throat with a knife and immediately abandoned him in the pool of his own blood to avoid being arrested by police officers,” they said.
The PPRO said a knife used by the brothers to kill the victim was found dumped in the victim’s pocket.
Speaking on how they carried out the act, he said the suspects engaged the deceased in a physical struggle, while Ubale held the legs of the victim, Babangida gripped his head and hands with his knee and slit his throat till he bled to death.
Wakil commiserated with the victim’s family and said the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Aminu Alhassan, ordered that the two suspects should be immediately charged to court once investigations are concluded.
