Gov. Buni offers 100 Toyota cars on loan to 100 beneficiaries in Yobe

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has on Thursday launched the empowerment support for business men, widows and vulnerable persons in the state.

The programme took place at the event centre of the government house Damaturu.

Governor Buni said the empowerment is part of the state’s quest for economic empowerment, job creation and self-reliance for personal income generation for the citizens.

Governor Buni said in the last three years, the state has executed several empowerment and skill acquisition projects to fast-track government recovery programme, enhance sustainable means of livelihood and the general economic advancement of people and Yobe state.

“As part of our empowerment drive, we have procured 100 units of Toyota ‘Avensis’ brand cars at a total cost of N461, 125,000.00 to be offered on loan to 100 beneficiaries at a subsidized rate of N2 million each payable within a 2-year duration.

“The Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation is hereby directed to liaise with the Yobe Microfinance Bank to work out modalities for payment by the beneficiaries of this package.

Governor Buni further revealed that as part of the humanitarian gesture of the present administration in the state, government has also distributed sewing, grinding and vulcanizing machines, among others to the less privileged to improve their livelihood.

He noted that the state also gave cash support to 400 widows, 254 vulnerable persons and 1600 small and medium-scale businessmen and women.

Governor Buni stated that all these measures are taken as part of the state’s recovery plan to support the less privileged and the businesses affected
by the decade-long insurgency in the State.

He enjoined the beneficiaries of the welfare packages to reciprocate the kind gesture by the state government to ensure proper utilisation of these items and the funds offered for their well-being.
