Naira Policy: APC chairman, party governors meet Attorney General ahead of Supreme Court’s hearing
Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has met with the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami ahead of the Supreme Court’s hearing on Wednesday of the case involving the federal government and three governors of the party in power over the Naira swap policy.
The plaintiffs, Governors Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, and Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State, were present at the brief meeting, which took place at the APC National Secretariat on Monday.
Recall that the three governors were the first to drag the federal government and the Central Bank of Nigeria before the Supreme Court regarding the naira swap policy.

The governors argued that the new monetary policy is crippling economic activities in their states as the scarcity of the redesigned notes has put their people through untold hardship and asked the court to stop the implementation of the policy or allow new and old notes to coexist.
In its ruling, the Supreme Court restricted the CBN and the federal government from implementing the newly introduced policy.
However, President Muhammad Buhari in a nationwide broadcast last week directed the CBN to release only the N200 into circulation while the N500 and N1000 cease to be legal tenders, a directive which didn’t sit well with Governor Elrufai of Kaduna State.
