Naira Scarcity Riots: Hoodlums set ablaze two commercial banks in Delta
Two commercial banks operating in Delta State, Nigeria’s Southern region were set ablaze on Wednesday by hoodlums in protest of the new naira policy initiated by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Confirming the incident, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, disclosed that no fewer than nine persons were arrested in connection with the setting ablaze of two commercial banks in Udu Local Government Area of the state.
He made this known via his official Twitter handle.
According to him, “In Udu Local Government Area some unguided youths/miscreants in the name of protest have set two banks and two vehicles ablaze in Udu Local Government Area.
“We have arrested nine suspects so far. Some persons will still call this protest,” he said.
Neptune Prime reported that the neighbouring state Edo witnessed a similar situation where they were pockets of violent protest and the state Governor, Godwin Obaseki had ordered for the arrest of his predecessor, Adams Oshiomole where he was alleged to have orchestrated the protest in the state.
