NDE flags off graduate coaching scheme in Adamawa

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has flagged off three months orientation for the Graduate Coaching Scheme (GCS) in Adamawa State
Speaking at the inauguration in Yola, Malam Abubakar Fikpo, NDE’s Director-General, said the training is under Special Public Works Department (SPW) nationwide.
Fikpo who was represented by Malam Mohammed Jimada, NDE Director in Adamawa, said the scheme is designed to help students and graduate of secondary schools especially those with deficiencies in their grades in JAMB, WAEC, NECO, GCE and NABTEB examinations.
According to him, the exercise will help the students to get grades that will qualify them for admission into tertiary institutions.
He said in Adamawa State, the exercise is being conducted in the three senatorial zones of the state and charged the facilitators and supervisors to impact positively on the students to achieve the objective of the scheme in the state and country at large.
He said the programme would also produce qualified, employable and marketable personnel for medium scale enterprise, thereby reducing unemployment rates within the unemployed school leaver.
Hajiya Sakina Muhammad, Head of Department (HoD) SPW, explained that 36 graduates on various subjects were engaged for the programme, 11 facilitators and one supervisor in each senatorial zone.
According to her, the schools selected for the coaching were; Government Senior Secondary (GSSS) Numan for southern senatorial zone, GSSS Mubi for northern zone and Aliyu Mustapha College for Central zone.
She advised the facilitators and supervisors to do their jobs effectively so the students can get qualifications to further their education and be productive in the society.
Speaking on behalf of the supervisors and facilitators, Mr Magoo Gabriel appreciated the commitment of federal government for organising the programme and for finding them worthy to coach the students.
He said that the programme would greatly help students who have deficiencies in the near future.
