One dead, five arrested as APC/PDP clash in Jigawa
A violent altercation between members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) broke out in Jigawa State and resulted in the death of one person and five arrests.
The incident took place on Friday during a rally organised in Maigatari Local Government Area by PDP governorship candidate Mustafa Sule Lamido (LGA).
It was gathered that the clash started after they arrived at the APC Secretariat.
According to a police statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Jigawa State Command, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, on Saturday, “The victim, Abdullahi Isiyaku, a 37-year-old man from Gangare Quarters in Maigatari town, was attacked by members of the PDP’s ‘Santuraki Vanguard’.
“He was rushed to the Gumel General Hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries.”
The statement added that a discreet investigation is underway at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse.
Police also confirmed that the situation is under control as security agents are working to guarantee that the offenders are brought to justice.
The incident has raised concerns about the security of citizens and the potential for further political tensions in the state.
The police added that authorities are urging all political parties to refrain from using violence and to encourage their supporters to act peacefully.

Innalillahi wa’inna’ilaihi raji’un. May Allah forgive him, political parties ought to know that politics is not a war, a game that one most emerged as a winner & definitely others loos & wait for their turn. Do not forget to remember the peace accord earlier signed just to desist &:curtail violence. Stick to peace accord we are all one.
Very true. Thanks.
