PDP commends Yobe gov’t for quality facilities at Muhammadu Buhari Int’l Cargo Airport
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commended the state-of-the-art airport facilities at the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport in Yobe State.
Yusuf Ali, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Digital & Strategic Communications to Governor Mai Mala Buni, said the opposition party members were impressed with how seven aircraft successfully landed and took off from the airport when PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, flagged off his presidential campaign rally in Damaturu on Wednesday.
Ali said the entire process was operated by a team of Air Traffic Controllers (ATC) and Air Traffic Safety Electronic Personnel (ATSEP).
According to Ali, the Head of Technical and Operations of the Muhammadu Buhari Airport, Engr. Mohammed Hassan, said no fewer than six aircraft landed at the airport for the PDP presidential campaign rally in Damaturu.

He said that all the members of the PDP including pilots and crews that used the airport said the facilities are of international standard and commended the Yobe State Government for the achievement.
Engr. Mohammed Hassan said he heard the visibly surprised officials and pilots of PDP talking to themselves about the facilities, particularly the standard of the runaway, control tower and its communication equipment as well as the automated weather observation system which provides accurate weather report every ten minutes and other ancillary works in the airport.
“This is a testament to the good work His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni has done in ensuring the completion of the Cargo International Airport to standard in line with his ‘continuity, consolidation, and innovation agenda,” he said.
Recall that President Muhammadu, while commissioning the airport during a two-day working visit to Yobe State commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for providing an International Cargo Airport for the people of the North-East region of Nigeria.
He described the International Cargo Airport as a strategic project aimed at improving the state and nation’s economy.
Buhari said, “Today, we are commissioning the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport. This international cargo airport connects North-East States, which makes it a critical component of our national economy.”
According to the President, the international cargo airport has been built to the highest quality of design and workmanship and should be properly used to last the designed service life.
He assured that the airport will ease the process of doing business, create jobs, and entrench a prosperous economic environment in line with his administration’s commitment to eradicating poverty among the people of Nigeria.
