Tems wins first-ever Grammy award
Temilade Openiyi popularly known as Tems has won her first-ever Grammy award.
The Afrobeats singer who rose to prominence after she was featured on Wizkid’s 2020 single “Essence,” won the ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ category on Sunday night for her role in ‘Wait for U’, the hit song by Future featuring Drake.

She has become the first full Nigerian female artist to win a Grammy and only the second behind Sade Adu who won the Best New Artist prize in 1986.
The 2023 Grammy Awards ceremony is currently being held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
