Thugs attack INEC adhoc staff in Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed an attack on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ad hoc staff camped at Tudunwada Primary School in the Gombe metropolis.

Confirming the attack during an interview with journalists on Saturday, the State Commissioner of Police, Oqua Etim, noted that ”They were attacked by suspected hoodlums. It’s very unfortunate that the ad hoc staff mistakingly moved with the materials ahead of the security personnel.

“They were trying to settle in before other colleagues who were to go with the security team from the INEC office. But the hoodlums took advantage of that. We have taken the necessary measures to ensure that such a situation does not occur again.

“This has never happened. We planned that they would be escorted to their various locations as they leave the INEC office as a team.”

Recall that suspected hoodlums had Friday night attacked some INEC ad hoc staff camped at Tudunwada Primary School in the Gombe metropolis. Leaving three of the officials with machete cuts and other injuries.
