INEC threatens to sue PDP for accusing Prof. Mahmood of election rigging
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has threatened legal actions against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and others over unsubstantiated and libellous allegations against it and its chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.
The Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to INEC Chairman, Mr Rotimi Lawrence Oyekanmi, gave the warning on Friday night in Abuja.
The PDP earlier on Friday at a press conference in Abuja, accused Prof. Yakubu of rigging the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections and that the INEC boss is also planning to rig the March 18 governorship and state assembly elections starting with the re-configuration of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
However, Oyekanmi said the latest call by the PDP, just like it did previously for the resignation of Prof. Mahmood Yakubu as INEC Chairman, is misplaced.
