Welcome to the news report of the Buni Football Challenge, which is set to conclude today, January 17th. The invitational tournament, which was flagged off at the Sadi Sport Center in Potiskum, Yobe State, was organized to mobilize and unite youths in His Excellency Mai Mala Buni’s re-election campaign as Governor of Yobe State. The tournament aimed to bring to the fore Buni’s principles of unity and togetherness and, most tellingly, youth empowerment.

The tournament featured eight teams competing against each other, including ASUU FC, Undisputed FC, Jago Boys, Baiti FC, Miracle FC, Samba Boys, Ajeenho Academy, and Zico FC. The first day of the tournament was a spectators’ delight and opened with ASUU FC overcoming Undisputed FC with three goals to nil. Jago Boys then beat Baiti 3 – 0, Miracle FC won the Samba Boys with the only goal of the game coming deep into the second half stoppage time, and Ajeenho Academy overcame Zico FC 5 – 2 in a thrilling contest.

The tournament was structured to start from the quarter-finals, which were all played on the first day. Each game was forty minutes long, with a ten-minute halftime break midway through the match. The Buni Football Challenge was sponsored by Dr Hassan Gimba Ahmed, with Suleiman Hassan Gimba Esq acting as the Chairman of the organizing Committee, Umar Hussaini Ahmad as Secretary, and Muhammad Shamsuddeen Goni, Umar Tukur Barau, and Mohammed Kasim as members.

No team will go home empty-handed as prizes will be awarded to every team that participated, and it gradually increases as a team progresses through the competition. The first semi-final is slated for 5 pm today and will feature ASUU FC against Jago Boys. Shortly after, the second semi-final will be played by Samba Boys against Ajeenho Academy. The closing ceremony will also feature Spoken Word Poetry performances by Aisha Umar Gimba and Muhammed Ahmad.

The Buni Football Challenge is a significant event for the youths of Yobe State, as it serves as a platform to showcase their talents and bring them together in the spirit of unity and togetherness. We wish all the teams the best of luck in the semi-finals and look forward to a fantastic closing ceremony.
