Ferguson, Wenger inducted into Premier League Hall of Fame

Former Manchester United and Arsenal managers, Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger, have been inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame.

The two legends were honoured on Wednesday by the English Premier League (EPL).

Ferguson appreciating his induction said it goes beyond himself but the club as well during his time at Old Trafford.

“It’s an honour when you receive recognition like this,” said Ferguson.

“However, it’s not just about me as a person. It’s about the job at Manchester United and the bond we had over many years, so I’m also proud of the club, the staff and my players.”

Ferguson came on board as Man United manager for nearly three decades from 1986 to 2013.

Based on statistics, Fergie as he is popularly called was unarguably the most decorated managers during his reign in English football.

Fergie won 13 league titles, received 11 Manager of the Season awards and 27 Manager of the Month awards after 810 matches with 528 wins, 1,752 points earned and 65.2% win rates.

Meanwhile, Wenger said he would liked to be remembered as someone who left Arsenal in a position where the club can be more bigger than he met it.

“I’d like to be known as someone who loved Arsenal, who respected the values of the club and left it in a position where it can grow and become even bigger,” he said.

“To share this with Sir Alex is a great honour for me. It’s like two boxers, you fight like mad and go the distance together.”

The French man took over in 1996 and retired in 2018.

His two decades reign in the North London club will not be forgotten by millions after three league titles, three-time Manager of the Season and 15 Manager of the Month awards.

The 73-year-old who is serving as FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development had 476 wins from 828 matches with 1,561 goals and 1,627 points earned with a win rate of 57.5% during his reign as Arsenal manager.
