Gov. Buni receives certificate of return, attributes success to the collective will of the people

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, on Wednesday received his certificate of return following his victory in the March 18 governorship election in the state.
Governor Buni received his certificate alongside members-elect of the State House of Assembly at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Damaturu, Yobe State capital.
The governor in his remark said the success of the election was made possible by the collective will of the people.

He commended the electoral umpire for demonstrating an uncommon commitment in conducting free, fair, and generally acceptable elections across the state.
Buni noted that members of the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), local and international observers played significant roles in ensuring that the state had credible elections.
According to him, people of Yobe State conducted themselves peacefully during and after the presidential and national assembly elections, as well as, the governorship and state assembly elections, hence, making the state proud.
“This truly exhibits that Yobe State is the home of peaceful elections built on the concept of Politics Without Bitterness’ as propagated by our revered political icon, the late Alhaji Waziri Ibrahim. It is also heartwarming that politicians and their supporters in the state refused to give room to political violence and thuggery, which further made Yobe State a role model of peaceful electioneering for other states to emulate.
“Now that the elections are over, l congratulate all those who participated. Although only some were returned elected, l commend the other contenders for putting in a good contest with a passion to serve the state. I also wish to commend the opposition parties and their candidates for showing interest and passion to serve our dear state through healthy politicking.
“I, therefore, wish to extend our hands of fellowship and to invite you all to join us in the task of building our dear state, Yobe. We will continue to maintain an open-door policy to give everyone a sense of belonging and the opportunity to contribute to the development of the state.
The Governor appreciated and commended the good people of Yobe State for reinvesting their faith, and entrusting their mandate in them again for another term of office.
He further said, “Insha Allah, we shall not fail you, and we will not disappoint you. We shall be more committed to improve on the achievements recorded in the last four years, to make the next four years more fruitful and rewarding for our people”.
Speaking earlier at the the occasion, the INEC Supervisory National Commissioner in charge of Bauchi, Borno and Yobe State, General M.A Alkali (retd) implored the elected public officers to ensure they fulfil their campaign promises to the electorates and wished them all for successful tenure in office.
