Court remands 2 suspects for raping pregnant woman in Adamawa
Two persons have been remanded by a Magistrate Court in Yola, Adamawa State for allegedly raping a pregnant woman and stealing N300,000 belonging to two housewives.
The suspects were identified as Suleiman Adamu, 29, and Ahmadu Umaru, 26, both from Machimin community in Maiha local government area
The presiding Magistrate, Muhammed Abubakar, remanded the two men for criminal conspiracy, house trespass, and rape.
They were arraigned by police prosecuting officer Inspector Zakka Musa after they were apprehended by local hunters.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the allegations read against them, and said it was a setup.
According to the prosecution, the defendants also made away with the sum of N300,000 belonging to two housewives.
The court adjourned the matter to March 28, 2023, to enable the prosecution to transmit the case file to DPP for legal advice.
