Wives of accused rapist in Anambra reveal deadly oath that prevented sexual intercourse for 4 years

The wives of an Anambra man identified as Mr Arinze Obiwenite, who was arrested for defiling his 12-year-old daughter, have revealed that they have not had any sexual intercourse in the past four years because of a “deadly” oath they made with their husband during their marriage.

The women, identified as Chinyere, Ijeoma, and Theresa, claimed that Obiwenite forced them to swear an oath that no man would touch them after he married them. He would then impregnate them and send them away once he was done.

“When we begged him to release us from the oath or allow us to see our children, he refused,” the women said.

“He does not even consider our feelings as women.”

They went on to say that the oath prevented them from having sex with anyone for the past four years.

Obiwenite, a native of Abacha community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, was arrested after a raid on his home following a tipoff from a member of the community.

The raid also led to the rescue of the accused’s 12-year-old daughter and her siblings, who had been locked up in a room for over five years.

The accused was arraigned before the Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Magistrate Court in Awka on March 23 and remanded at the Correctional Centre Amawbia.

The women spoke to journalists in Awka on Wednesday, expressing their excitement at their “freedom” after Obiwenite was summoned to break the oath. He then told them they were free from all the charms he had used to hold them and could now have sexual relationships with any man they wanted.

The suspect will be making appearances in court to answer for his crimes.
