Police arrest 3 men for defiling minors in Adamawa, Kano

Operatives of the Nigerian Police Force have arrested two men and one suspect for defiling minors in Adamawa and Kano States respectively.
The Adamawa State Police Command apprehended 30-year-old Murtala Muhammed who defiled a 7-year-old girl in Numan, behind Demsa guest inn.
The officers also arrested 53-year-old Pwanbidon Obed, a resident of Gwalti Village, Numan Local Government for having carnal knowledge of a 9-year-old girl in Ngwalti Village.
A statement from the command’s spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed that the suspects on March 31 at separate locations, lured their victims into an uncompleted and completed building respectively, and forcefully had carnal knowledge of them.
He said the two incidents were reported to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Numan by the parents of the victims.
Nguroje said preliminary investigation reveals that Murtala Muhammed is a taxi driver and Pwanbidon Obed is a fisherman.
He said the state Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, has directed the officer in charge of the family support unit to take over the investigation and ensure diligent prosecution of the case.
Similarly, operatives of the Kano State Police Command have taken a 17-year-old boy into police custody for allegedly defiling two minors in the state.
The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mamman Dauda, confirmed the arrest in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday.
He said, “The police on April 2, at about 3 p.m received a distress call that the suspect allegedly lured a seven and six-year-old into his room in Badawa Layout Quarters, Kano.
“The suspect gagged them and defiled them. The victims were rushed to the Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital Kano for treatment.
“Investigation is ongoing and once completed the suspect will be charged to court,” Mr Dauda said.
