No casualty after fire guts section of Queen’s College  

Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS), Mrs Margaret Adeseye, has said no life was lost after a section of Queen’s College, Yaba in Lagos was gutted by on Sunday.

According to reports, the fire outbreak started in a two-room quarter located behind the school staff quarters.

Adeseye in a statement said it took a combined effort of the federal and state fire service to put out the inferno.

The incident at the time when the school and other schools in the state are observing their second term holiday including the Easter break.

Although, the statement did not not mention if there were students in the boarding facilities when the incident occurred.

“The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, the fire has since been put out by a combined effort of the Lagos State Fire Service and Federal Fire Service, while the police who were also alerted, prevented hoodlums from forcefully gaining access to the school premises. No life was lost in the incident,” the statement reads.

Queen’s College was founded on October 10, 1927.
