INEC suspends Adamawa REC, Hudu Yunusa Ari, for announcing false election results
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Adamawa State, Hudu Yunusa Ari, who illegally announced the results of the supplementary governorship election held on Saturday, April 15.
Neptune Prime reports that Ari abruptly declared APC’s Aisha Dahiru, popularly known as Binani winner of the election of the Saturday re-run election while collation was still going on.

Reacting to the announcement on Monday, INEC issued a letter addressed to the Adamawa REC ordering him to stay away from the office with immediate effect until further notice.
The letter was signed by Rose Oriaran-Anthony, Secretary to the Commission.
The letter, with the heading, “Commission’s Directive to stay away from INEC, Adamawa State,” reads: “I hereby convey the Commission’s decision that you (Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari), Resident Electoral Commissioner, Adamawa State, should stay away from the Commission’s office in Adamawa State immediately until further notice.
“The Administrative Secretary has been directed to take full charge of INEC, Adamawa State with immediate effect. Please, accept the assurance of the Commission’s warm regards.”
