India is most populous country with 1.4286 billion people – UN
India has overtaken China as the world’s most populous country in the world with 1.4286 billion, according to data made available by the United Nations (UN).
India’s population is estimated to be 1.4286 billion, compared to China’s 1.4257 billion.

India will top the UN list since it started collecting population data in 1950.
To this, it shows China’s birth rate is declining despite the country’s effort to to reverse the decline.
Reports say India is yet to conduct a national census since 2011 so, no official data on its number of people. The last COVID-19 pandemic prevent the country from having its census
The UN data shows nearly 1/4th of India’s population is under the age of 14, according to the UN data. 68 per cent of the population is in the 15 to 64 age group, while 7 per cent is above the age of 65.
