Blessing CEO arrested, granted bail for using Instagram to bully, threaten IVD’s wife’s sister

Blessing Okoro Nkiruka, popularly known as Blessing CEO, is a social media influencer and relationship expert who has been involved in several scandals.

In 2019, she sparked controversy by flaunting a mansion on social media, claiming that it belonged to her. However, the house actually belonged to a China-based Nigerian billionaire, Onyeze Na Chiko. She later apologized to her fans for the incident.

In December 2021, Blessing completed and launched her own house amidst allegations that it belonged to one of her baby daddies. In 2022, she underwent liposuction, despite previously encouraging her followers to be confident in their natural bodies.

Blessing was recently remanded in prison for cyberbullying after she was accused of using her Instagram page to “bully, threaten and harass” Folashade Samuels, sister to the late Bimbo Ogbonna, wife of celebrity car dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna (aka IVD).

Recall that in March 2023, IVD was arraigned before the Lagos State High Court for the alleged manslaughter of his late wife, Abimbola Ogbonna, who died in October 2022 following an injury sustained from a fire incident that resulted from violence in their home in Megamound Estate in the Lekki area of the state.

Blessing who claimed to be IVD’s official relationship therapist made controversial statements on social media, accusing the late Bimbo Ogbonna of being violent and suicidal.

She said: “Let’s ask Mamajazz where her father is??? Their father had exactly the same issue with their mother Ebele and he ran away for us (sic) dear life. IVD’s crime was that he was not man enough to run…”

“The family of late Bimbo is after IVD’’s properties and life. Especially her elder sister Mamajazz. Bimbo and IVD are well-known people in Lagos and it’s not a hidden fact that even in their estate that Bimbo is violent. Everybody knows how she breaks a bottle on her husband’s head on a daily .. Bimbo killed herself and has always wanted to kill herself right from childhood. Evidence loading. All the voice notes and evidence will be on my YouTube and Facebook. Subscribe”.

“I will ask Mamajazz, the late Bimbo’s sister few questions…where (sic) you in (sic) talking terms with your sister before (she) died? Are you owing your late sister 18 million? Did she block you before her death? Do you even like your sisters’ children?? Answers this question because | will slam the internet with raw facts and evidence.

“I am stepping into the case as the official relationship therapist of IVD… Will drop all the evidence that IVD did not kill his wife or even hurt her. The late Bimbo was the violent person and suicidal victim….”

After the incident, Meta the parent company of Instagram took down her account after taking sides with the celebrity auto dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna, known as IVD, over his wife’s death.

Despite the backlash she faced on social media, and her Instagram account disabled, Blessing CEO created a new Instagram account saying that no one could intimidate her.

She was then arrested by operatives of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) and charged with cyberbullying, which contravenes Section 24 (2)(a)(1) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, and Section 375 of the Criminal Code Act. These offences also contravened Section 33 of the NFVCB Act, 2004.

Rotshang Dimka, the prosecution counsel, told the court that Blessing used her Instagram page to “injure the reputation of Folashade Samuels and the late Bimbo Ogbonna, by exposing them to hatred, contempt, and ridicule”, via the internet.

Okoro had pleaded not guilty.

Following her no-guilty plea, Justice Bogoro ordered she should be remanded at Nigerian Correctional Services Custodial Centre till May 30 for the hearing of her bail application.

After spending three weeks in detention, her lawyer, Prince I. Nwafuru, confirmed that she had finally been released.

She was admitted to N10 million bail each with two sureties in like sum.
